EMS Libraries

The library is widely regarded as the heart of the school—a space where curiosity is ignited, knowledge is explored, and a lifelong passion for reading and learning is nurtured.

EMS Libraries are learning hubs, thoughtfully designed to foster a love of reading, maintain a relevant and diverse print collection, connect our community with high-quality information, support teaching and learning, and serve as a welcoming space to read, work, collaborate, and engage in meaningful discussions. Our libraries offer a bright and inviting learning environment  with cozy reading corners and the famous centerpiece—the “Tree House.” Our mission is to help students become independent lifelong learners who effectively use information and find enjoyment in the printed word.

Library materials are carefully selected for patrons at all levels, from resources that support the school’s curriculum, suitable for research and other projects, to age-appropriate books in a wide range of genres and formats, while reflecting diverse cultures and perspectives. Many of our books are labeled with reading levels on the spine, helping students build independence and confidence as they learn to select books that match their interests and reading abilities. For our younger readers, we offer a rich selection of engaging materials—including board books, picture books, story sacks, big books, and stuffed animals. Students are encouraged to explore and select freely from the collection, with librarians available to offer guidance and support when needed. EMS Libraries also maintain a robust collection of teaching resources, including kits, CDs, DVDs, literature sets for classroom use, and oversized big books to support various instructional needs.

Each year, through our Author Visit Program, the library invites authors who inspire and enrich our students’ learning experiences. The author conducts a variety of assemblies and workshops, including read-aloud sessions, writing workshops, Q&A sessions, and book signings. Another key event of the EMS Libraries is the annual Battle of the Books, our signature reading competition. This reading incentive program motivates students to read through friendly competition while fostering teamwork, preparation, and sportsmanship. Additionally, EMS Libraries host a yearly Book Fair that excites both students and staff about reading. It provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone to build their personal book collections by choosing from a wide and diverse selection of titles.
