Job Summary:
A teacher’s major responsibility is to nurture the development of a classroom where the school’s mission, vision, and core values are understood and implemented in a caring manner. The teacher’s focus is the academic and social development of the students.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Planning:
-
Show a strong knowledge of learning theory, curriculum design, and subject area(s).

Construct yearly plans, course outlines, units, and lessons in accordance with the school’s aims & objectives.

Plan a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of all students.
-
Use media and technology to enhance lesson delivery and student performance.
-
Incorporate the “Cambridge Learner Attributes” (CLA) in planning & teaching.
Assessment & Communication:
-
Evaluate students’ progress with announced criteria, fairly applied, in accordance with school policy.

Use evaluation instruments that match the school’s goals and help students meet high expectations.

Communicate clearly, honestly, and with integrity, using varied means (visual, audible, tactile) to connect with all students.
Student Care & Classroom Management:

Treat each child as uniquely gifted and discipline students fairly and firmly.
-
Clearly define responsible behavior, including guidelines and consequences.
-
Encourage all students persistently and help them learn self-discipline.

Provide a positive classroom atmosphere that fosters a learning community.
Community & Stewardship:
-
Support administrators, fellow teachers, and support staff.
-
Participate in the After School Activities program by leading one activity per term.

Use all school resources wisely and teach students to respect property.

Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding.

Maintain accurate records for student grades, behavior, and attendance.
Professional Development:

Pursue further learning of subject area(s) while seeking the best pedagogy for the school’s goals.

Attend all meetings (staff meetings & parent meetings) consistently and punctually.
Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate superior.
Job Requirements (Selection Criteria):

Educational Qualification: Professional Training and Certification as outlined in the Teacher’s Contract.

Experience: Minimum two years of teaching experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Teaching License & Professional Training as outlined in the Teacher’s Contract.
