Bus Driver

Reports To: Head of School or Designate

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Heavy Duty Driver is to safely provide transportation services to EMS students and staff in accordance with school policies. The driver is expected to demonstrate professional competence, effective communication, and a strong commitment to safety and community.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Vehicle Operation:

• Perform daily vehicle checks and complete maintenance checklists.

• Drive with utmost care and safety at all times, adhering to Qatari traffic regulations.

• Inspect the bus after each trip for lost items, damage, and complete a post-trip checklist.

• Report any vehicle damage or emergencies immediately.

• Ensure the bus has an adequate fuel supply for all trips.

Student & Route Management:

• Pick up and drop off students at designated spots without altering the route without approval.

• Before releasing a student, ensure a designated adult is present to collect them.

• Check that all students are present before departing the school at the end of the day.

Professional Conduct:

• Maintain a neat, professional appearance and wear the appropriate work uniform.

• Communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully.

• Use all school resources wisely and keep the bus clean and tidy.

• Refrain from non-work-related activities during work hours.

• Adhere to the Staff Code of Conduct and all school policies.

• Provide a positive and friendly atmosphere on the bus.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate driver logs.

• Be punctual for all assigned duties.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or designate.

Job Requirements (Selection Criteria):

• Educational Qualification: High school diploma.

• License: Must be licensed to drive school buses in Qatar.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful professional experience as a bus driver.

• Competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of traffic rules and safe vehicle operation.

  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment (e.g., GPS).

  • Ability to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather) safely.

  • Excellent eye, hand, and foot coordination.

  • Diligence and strong communication skills in English.

  • High level of customer service skills and ability to deal with emotions.
